Alma Chapter 39

** IMPORTANT NOTE ** Chapters 36-42 are a separate record of advice given by Alma's to his three sons. Mormon includes these chapters 36-42, before returning to include the wars hinted to in chapter 35.

Summary:

Alma now teaches his son Corianton. Corianton was not like his other two brothers. In fact, he did not follow the commandments of God. Alam chastises him for "sexual sins". He mentions that sexual sin is an abomination in God's eyes. Christ's redemption is retroactive in saving the faithful people who preceded it.

Lessons Taught/To be Learned:

The lesson of sexual sin being one of the most abominable expect for the shedding of innocent blood (murder) or denying the Holy Ghost (apostasy/blasphemy) is powerful. Many talks, teachings and scriptural references can be cited, more numerous that can be given here. Needless to say, study the subject and you will come to know that sexual transgression is very serious and should be treated as such.

Key Scriptures (italicized and in quotes):

"5 Know ye not, my son, that these things are an abomination in the sight of the Lord; yea, most abominable above all sins save it be the shedding of innocent blood or denying the Holy Ghost?."
