Alma Chapter 51


Summary:   Several people do not like the new chief judge and want to have a king instead. These "king-men" seek to change the law. Pahoran, the chief judge, has a vote among the people and they (the freeman) support no king. Meanwhile, Amalickiah, despite being beaten previously, still thirsts for revenge and prepares to come to battle against the Nephites. The king-men rejoice in this development and refuses to take up arms against the Lamanites. Moroni sees this and compels them to defend their liberty or be put to death. Moroni's army go against the king-men and slay many of them and their leaders are imprisoned. Meanwhile, Amalickiah and his armies start to take many of the small cities of the Nephites in battle. Amalickiah finally comes up to battle against Teancum and Teancum and his men rebuff the Amalickiah an his armies. The fight to a standstill and each group pitches their tents for the night. Teancum sneaks into Amalickiah's tent by night and slays him.
