1 Nephi Chapter 11
Summary: In a series of four scriptures (1 Nephi 11 - 14), Nephi sees the Spirit of the Lord and explains his visions.)
Nephi sees the Spirit of the Lord and is shown the tree of life that his father saw and it told of the significance (see Book of Mormon - Student Manual (religion 121-122)). He see the mother of the Son of God and learns of the "condescension" God. He also sees the baptism, ministry and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Lessons Taught/To be Learned:
(Same as in Chapter 8)
- The tree of life can be viewed as symbol of Jesus Christ and his infinite atonement
- The mist of darkness is Satan's way of keeping you from the tree. The iron rod and the strait and narrow path represent following Jesus Christ and obeying his commandments
- The desirous and delicious fruit of the tree represent the wonderful blessing and benefits you receive by following Jesus.
Key Scriptures (italicized and in quotes):
"36 ... Thus shall be the destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, that shall fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb."
