Moroni Chapter 7
Summary: Moroni published a final sermon given by his father Mormon. In this sermon he spoke about faith, hope and charity. He directs people to pray with real intent. He compares how the spirit of Christ enables men to know good from evil and how Satan persuades men to deny Christ and do evil. He then talks about the importance of faith, hope and charity.
Lessons Taught/To be Learned:
In this chapter, Mormon drops the historian role and steps fully into the prophet‑witness role. He is no longer summarizing the past; he is addressing the future. Essentially he is saying this - if you remember nothing else, remember this sermon - to believe in Jesus Christ; repent and be baptized, and lay hold upon the whole gospel of Jesus Christ.
Key Scriptures (italicized and in quotes):
"34 And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be saved."
"41 And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise."
"46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—"
"47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him."
