Ether Chapter 8

Summary:   More generations pass, and soon new strife and contentions begins to come onto the people. One of the daughters of a fallen captured wicked king Jared schemes with Akish to slay his the current king. The captured king, his daughter and Akish form a secret combination (a wicked pact). Moroni interjects at this point that secret combinations used to gain power and personal gain are of the devil and result in the destruction of nations. He then goes on to say warn future generations to avoid or be part of any such secret combinations that try to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations or countries.
