Ether Chapter 9
Summary: The kingdom of the Jaredites passes fron one King to another by decent, intrigue and even murder. Finally King Omer has a son, Emer, who presides in righteousness and the kingdom propers for over hundred years. But again, as evidenced in the pride cycle (seen many times in this book), the people begin to get proud and a couple of generations later, wickedness begins to cover the land. Prophets come unto the land to cry repentance upon the people, and the people refuse to heed their warning and cast them out. Soon several plagues including famine and poisonous snakes cover the land. Eventually, the people repent and the Lord restores rain and takes away the plagues.

Key Scriptures (italicized and in quotes):
"35 And it came to pass that when they had humbled themselves sufficiently before the Lord he did send rain upon the face of the earth; and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about.
