Helaman Chapter 10

** IMPORTANT NOTE ** The remaining chapters of Helaman, Chapters 7-16, represent the Prophecy of Nephi (the son of Helaman). God threatens the people of Nephi that they will be destroyed unless they repent of the wicked ways (chapters 7-10). God smites the people with famine and pestilance; they repent and turn back to him (chapters 11-12). Then Samuel, the Lamanite prophecies of the coming of Jesus Christ (chapters 13-15).

Summary:   Nephi is blessed by God to have the "sealing power" thus meaning that he can "bind and loose on earth and in heaven". Essentially,Gos has given his power over the people. Nephi calls on the people to repent or they may be destroyed. Despite many knowing that he was a prophet after telling of the killing of the chief judge and the disclosing the murderer, the people still refuse to listen to him and try to imprison him. But because the spirit of God is with him, they cannot imprison him, and in fact he goes for with the Spirit to all congregations to preach repentance. Internal contentions and war breaks out among all the people.
