Helaman Chapter 11


** IMPORTANT NOTE ** The remaining chapters of Helaman, Chapters 7-16, represent the Prophecy of Nephi (the son of Helaman). God threatens the people of Nephi that they will be destroyed unless they repent of the wicked ways (chapters 7-10). God smites the people with famine and pestilance; they repent and turn back to him (chapters 11-12). Then Samuel, the Lamanite prophecies of the coming of Jesus Christ (chapters 13-15).

Summary:   Contentions continue to grow and war within and between the Nephites persists. Nephite asks the Lord to replace the war with famine instead. The famine lasts for two years, and finally the people ask Nephi to pray to God to give them relief. Nephi requests that they repent and they do. Nephi prays to to Lord to forgive the people and the famine stops and rain comes to nurish and replenish the land. And soon the people began to prosper in the land again. And peace was seen for several But soon after several more years, wickedness began to creep into them again. Soon a few more years later, the people became prideful and more wicked.
