Mosiah Chapter 14
** IMPORTANT NOTE **
The record of Zeniff, comprising of Mosiah Chapters 9-22, is the first major flashback in the Book of Mormon and is about Zeniff and his people. This was hinted about in Mosiah Chapter 7 when Ammon finds King Limhi, the grandson of Zeniff. This record is an account of the people of Zeniff from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until the time they were discovered by Ammon and then in Chapter 22, when Ammon and King Limhi plot to get the people out of bondage from the Lamanites.
The record of Zeniff is one of the flashbacks in the Book of Mormon. To see and understand these flashbacks see Outlying the Flashbacks in the Book of Mormon
** IMPORTANT NOTE **
Mosiah 14 is from the writings of Isaiah. This is the fifth of six times where full chapters of the Book of Mormon will be from Isaiah (and this one is included by Abinadi). The contents of this chapter is actually quoted by Abinadi.
All the chapters in the Book of Mormon that are from Isaiah can be very challenging to read and understand. So for purposes of this guide - we will only give a small summary and include any significant scriptures. Rather than skipping the chapters, we recommend you as least skim through to see what the prophecies are trying to convey. Don't get discouraged if you do not understand these chapters. You can always come back after you have read the remainder of the book and analyze them more closely later.
Summary: Abinadi quotes the prophet Mosiah who tells of the sufferings that will come to the Messiah. He tells how the Messiah will offer his soul to wipe away the sins of the world.
