Mosiah Chapter 15

** IMPORTANT NOTE ** The record of Zeniff, comprising of Mosiah Chapters 9-22, is the first major flashback in the Book of Mormon and is about Zeniff and his people. This was hinted about in Mosiah Chapter 7 when Ammon finds King Limhi, the grandson of Zeniff. This record is an account of the people of Zeniff from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until the time they were discovered by Ammon and then in Chapter 22, when Ammon and King Limhi plot to get the people out of bondage from the Lamanites.

The record of Zeniff is one of the flashbacks in the Book of Mormon. To see and understand these flashbacks see Outlying the Flashbacks in the Book of Mormon

Summary:   Abinadi preaches about how Christ uis both the Father and the Son. He preaches how Christ will bear all the transgressions of the people. He will redeem all of his seed including the holy prophets. He will bring to pass the resurrection.

Lessons Taught/To be Learned:

It is important not to confuse the concept of Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. In Abinadi's words, it seems that he is preaching what other Christian religion teach - that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, his son, are one in the same. But this is not what he is preaching at all. God the Father is the Father of our spirits, while God the Son is the father of righteousness. He is regarded as a "Father" of all the people who follow his and accept the gospel.

Key Scriptures (italicized and in quotes):

"2 And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son—"

"3 The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son."
