Alma Chapter 47

Summary:

Amalickiah, who escapes from Moroni, decides to join the Lamanites so he can stir them up to battle against the Nephites. He gets the kings to proclaim that they are going to go to war. The people don't want to to do this and disobey the king and many begin to leave. The king make Amalickiah the leader over the obedient people and sends them to go after the disobedient ones. Amalickiah uses this to his devious advantage by plotting to eventually overthrow the king and become king himself. In a series of moves he: - meets with the disobedient leader - betrays the obedient people whom he was leading - becomes second in command over all the people - slays the leader he met with and becomes leader of all of the people - returns to the king in a devious way making him think they won when in fact he just consolidated everything - has the king killed by his personal servants - lies about who killed the king saying it was his own servants - convinces the queen that the kings own servants killed him - gains favor with the queen and makes her his wife

And thus he becomes king of the Lamanites, and in so doing, makes the people more wicked.
