1 Nephi Chapter 2
Summary: The Lord speaks to Lehi in a dream and directs him to leave Jerusalem. Lehi and his family depart into the wilderness. They traveled 3 days and settled near the Red Sea. The two eldest sons of Lehi, Laman and Lemuel murmur against Lehi because he took them from all that they had into the wilderness where they had to struggle to survive. Nephi prays and is visited by the Lord who tells him he prosper if he follows the Lord and keeps his commandments.
Lessons Taught/To be Learned:
Always try to keep the commandments. It is easy to follow God's commandments when things are easy. It is much more difficult to do so when times are tough. However, do so always, in good or bad times is what you should do. Doing so, will result in God eventually rewarding you.
Key Scriptures (italicized and in quotes):
"20 And inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper and shall be led to a land of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you; yea, a land which is above all other lands."
