Mosiah Chapter 21

** IMPORTANT NOTE ** The record of Zeniff, comprising of Mosiah Chapters 9-22, is the first major flashback in the Book of Mormon and is about Zeniff and his people. This was hinted about in Mosiah Chapter 7 when Ammon finds King Limhi, the grandson of Zeniff. This record is an account of the people of Zeniff from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until the time they were discovered by Ammon and then in Chapter 22, when Ammon and King Limhi plot to get the people out of bondage from the Lamanites.

The record of Zeniff is one of the flashbacks in the Book of Mormon. To see and understand these flashbacks see Outlying the Flashbacks in the Book of Mormon

Summary:

Some time later, after the truce had been made, the Lamanites are stirred up and wage war again on Limhi and his people. This time the Lamanites are successful, but, because of the truce, they do not slay the Nephites. Instead they exercise authority over them and require them to work as slaves and take half of their possessions. And Limhi's people tried unsuccessfully several times to fight with the Lamanites, but each time they were beaten. So they suffered under the authority of the Lamanites all the way until the time the Ammon came upon them (see chapter 8). Ammon tells them that they are from Zarahemal and the king rejoices. Ammon teaches the people of Limhi and is told of the twenty-four plates of the Jaredites.
